History was made this Wednesday at the Isle of Man TT. Michael Dunlop was the winner of the first Supertwin TT race, marking his 27th victory – making him the sole record holder of wins in the event.
Last Saturday, by winning the first Supersport race, the rider had equalled a record that his uncle Joey had achieved 24 years ago – 26 victories, across all categories. Now, Michael has taken the lead on the list of winners.
To achieve this, the man from MD Racing, riding a Paton, led from the first lap, finishing with over 20 seconds advantage over Peter Hickman (Swan Racing/Yamaha). Not even the rival’s approach on the last lap prevented Michael Dunlop from securing the victory relatively smoothly.
In third place was Dominic Herbertson (Burrows Engineeering by RK Racing/Paton), making his debut on the podium. To achieve this, he surpassed Jamie Coward (KTS KW Electrical Steadplan Group/Kawasaki). The top five was completed by Mike Browne (Scott Racing Motorcycles/Aprilia).
