Héctor Garzó is the new MotoE World Champion! With one race to go, the Spaniard from Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE has just been crowned champion in Misano after finishing fourth in the race. Mattia Casadei gave his all but had no arguments to counter the opponent, who was promoted to fourth position – the minimum he needed – after the crash of race leader Kevin Zannoni.

With one race to go in the championship, the category title could already be sealed today, in race 1, in Misano. Mattia Casadei started from pole position and kept alive the hopes of becoming champion, but all eyes were on Garzó, who started from the third row, after being eighth in qualifying: fourth place was enough to guarantee the title.

And the pole sitter had a great start and made the most of the starting position, Kevin Zannoni was second and Eric Granado third. Massimo Rocoli crashed at the beginning of the second lap.

Alessandro Zaccone was third but the highlight was Zannoni who, with six laps to go, moved to the front, and Casadei, who had the hope of still fighting for the title was further back and Garzó on the rise, in fifth.

Zannoni was on a roll and set the fastest lap of the race, in 1:40.107s, while Casadei was giving his all but it didn’t depend only on him. Garzó was 1.1s behind the leader… but he didn’t need to make up so much time to seal the title, “just” from fourth place.

With two laps to go Zannoni crashed and with that Garzó was promoted to fourth place, although Casadei was now in the lead!

On the last lap Garzó received a warning for exceeding track limits and Casadei was leading. Everything was still up for grabs! Garzó was battling with Granado for the podium positions but was willing to do anything, even though it wasn’t necessary for his title run.

The race ended shortly afterwards with Casadei winning but the highlight was Garzó, who was thus crowned champion!
