With the 2024 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship wrapped up, it’s time to break down the final head-to-head results from a season that delivered unforgettable moments. Who came out on top in the tightest battles, especially among teammates? Here are the highlights.

Bulega dominates Superpole: 12-0 over Bautista, closer in races

Nicolo Bulega had a spectacular rookie season, shining in Superpole with an impressive 12-0 against his teammate and two-time champion Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati). However, races were more competitive, with Bautista closing the gap to 16-20 by season’s end. Bulega finished as the runner-up in the Championship with an average position of 3.37, compared to Bautista’s 4.96. In Superpole, Bulega’s average was 2.25, well ahead of Bautista’s 9.5.

The champion averaged 52.7 points per round (excluding the missed rounds), the highest since the introduction of the three-race weekend format.

Lowes outshines Bassani: 12-0 in Superpole, 29-7 in races

With years of experience on the ZX-10RR, Alex Lowes dominated Axel Bassani, who was in his debut season with Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK. Lowes took every Superpole comparison (12-0) and finished ahead in 29-7 races. Lowes’ average finishing position was 5.04, compared to Bassani’s 11.79. In Superpole, the gap was even wider: 4.58 for Lowes against Bassani’s 13.5.

Locatelli surpasses Rea: 24-9 in favor of the Italian

Andrea Locatelli (Pata Prometeon Yamaha) had a clear advantage over his teammate Jonathan Rea during a challenging season for the six-time champion. In 33 comparable races – Rea missed Cremona due to injury – Locatelli led 24-9. Superpole results were 8-3 in Locatelli’s favor, with Rea openly admitting difficulties adapting to the Yamaha R1. Locatelli’s average finish was 7.45, compared to Rea’s 10.13.

Lecuona leads at Honda: Advantage in races, tied in Superpole

At Honda, Iker Lecuona edged out Xavi Vierge in races with an 18-12 record. However, Superpole comparisons ended in a 5-5 tie. This closeness is reflected in their averages: Lecuona’s finishing position was 9.88, compared to Vierge’s 10.9. In Superpole, Lecuona averaged 14.10, slightly behind Vierge’s 12.25.
