Ducati reaffirmed its dominance in the 2024 MotoGP season, winning all but one of the 20 main races and securing every possible title.

However, the riders’ championship was clinched by Jorge Martín of the Prima Pramac satellite team, who bested Ducati factory rider Francesco Bagnaia in a season-long duel that went down to the final race.

There had been doubts about Martín’s chances, particularly after he signed with Aprilia for 2025. Nevertheless, Ducati provided him with the same resources as Bagnaia, ensuring the battle was decided solely on sporting grounds.

This approach earned praise from Rubén Xaus on the Dura La Vita podcast. Xaus remarked: ‘In the last few races, Ducati could have sabotaged Jorge Martín’s bike, had a problem arise with his bike – anything could have happened […]. Instead, in those final five or six races, they gave it their all on the track. They wanted the pride of winning on the track, but they had to face the reality of a stronger rival – or someone who executed things better’.

The former rider emphasized that Ducati’s conduct was beneficial for the sport: ‘Hats off to Ducati’s sporting behaviour in a championship where motorcycles surpass any other motorsport discipline. This is something I greatly appreciate. For me, this was key, for the good of the championship’.
