Many rumors about the future of Toprak Razgatlioglu have been circulating over the past few years and even more during this season, but the WSBK star has decided to make a surprising change in the championship, moving from Yamaha to BMW. For now, the Turkish rider is focused on the challenges ahead in the next two seasons with the new team, but he does not rule out discussions after that.
Razgatlioglu has shown interest, or at least curiosity, about MotoGP, but only with a factory team. Considering the recent developments for 2024, with Honda still looking for a rider to officially replace Marc Márquez, and the fact that they have publicly stated they have contacted some riders, it seems that his network of contacts may have extended beyond the world championship level.
The Turk spoke with Dorna and revealed that a MotoGP team approached him, but did not reveal which one. Considering the current state of the paddock, it could have been (easily)… Honda:
– I was approached by a MotoGP team, but I am now linked to the BMW Superbike factory team for two years, until the end of 2025. After that, we can talk about MotoGP contracts.
The manufacturer spoke with some riders, such as Miguel Oliveira or Fabio Di Giannantonio, but apparently Luca Marini will be taking #93’s place. The official confirmation is still pending.
