Revolution among the Grand American Touring motorcycles: the new Street Glide and Road Glide 2024 have a much more modern design and have also changed in technology. Although the displacement of the twin-cylinder remains at 117″ or 1,923 cc, the Milwaukee-Eight has numerous modifications and superior performance. So, let’s see in detail how the Road Glide has changed.
The new Road Glide 2024 is immediately recognizable for its stylistic revolution with a front fairing inspired by cars and designed in a wind tunnel to reduce air pressure on the rider.
The Milwaukee-Eight 117 twin-cylinder engine with 1,923 cc has been updated and features a new cooling system that further optimizes thermal comfort for the rider and an optimized intake and exhaust flow to increase performance. The current power output is 107 hp/80 kW at 5,020 rpm and, more importantly, 175 Nm at 3,500 rpm. The fuel consumption is 6 liters per 100 km.
The selectable driving modes – Road, Sport, Rain, and Custom – electronically control the performance characteristics of the motorcycle. The information and entertainment technology is managed by Skyline OS through a 12.3-inch TFT color touchscreen that replaces all analog instruments and most switches. A new 200-watt audio amplifier powers a pair of speakers mounted on the front fairing.
Improved aerodynamics increase rider comfort and reduce helmet wind impact at high speeds by an average of 60%.
The rear suspension travel has increased by 76 mm. The redesigned one-piece seat and cushioning materials offer a significant improvement in comfort.
Just like the Street Glide, the Road Glide also comes with a choice of two chrome or black engine finishes and eight color options. Prices start at €32,200 and will be available from next March.
New Road Glide ST CVO
The inspiration of racing has now also contaminated the world of custom and baggers. Thus, Harley-Davidson presents in 2024 the fastest and most sophisticated bagger ever produced: the new Road Glide ST in the CVO version. The new ST maintains a comfortable, yet unique, seat and features a 15 cm lift combined with a new handlebar for a more daring and forward-leaning posture. The reference is to the so-called West Coast style.
Two premium paint variants: Golden White Pearl or Raven Metallic.
The Screamin’ Eagle graphics on the fairing and fuel tank are inspired by the Screamin’ Eagle Harley-Davidson Factory bikes that compete in the MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers series. The 25th Anniversary CVOTM graphics celebrate a historic page of Factory Custom produced by Harley-Davidson.
The Milwaukee-Eight 121 High Output twin-cylinder engine is exclusive to the CVO Road Glide ST model, tuned to produce 127 horsepower (94 kW) and 193 Nm of torque – the highest power and torque ever produced by a factory-mounted engine on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. A lower final drive ratio was chosen to improve acceleration performance in each gear.
The use of new materials helps reduce dry weight to 363 kg, 11 kg less than the CVOTM Road Glide model. The exhaust headers have lightweight titanium bodies and forged carbon fiber exhaust pipes; the front fender, fairing, and fuel tank cover are made of lightweight composite material; the wheel design and front brake discs have been optimized to minimize unsprung weight.
The fully adjustable front and rear suspension includes SHOWA rear shock absorbers with remote reservoir and a SHOWA 1×1 inverted fork of 47 mm.
The high-quality Brembo braking components provide exceptional braking feel and performance for increased rider safety.
The selectable driving modes – Road, Sport, Track Plus, Rain, and various customizable Custom modes – electronically control the specific performance of the motorcycle.
The infotainment equipment is powered by the Skyline operating system. A color touchscreen replaces all analog instruments and most buttons. The premium audio system includes a 500-watt amplifier and a Harley-Davidson Audio system powered by 6.5-inch Rockford Fosgate Stage II speakers.
