With Prima Pramac joining Yamaha, Ducati had to decide which team would receive the latest version of its MotoGP bike. The choice fell on Pertamina Enduro VR46.

Gresini – the other satellite team – was achieving substantially better results at the time, with Marc Márquez challenging the factory riders and Jorge Martín during the 2024 season.

And not even placing Fermín Aldeguer – directly under contract with Ducati – in BK8 Gresini led to the customer Desmosedici GP25 ending up with the team founded by Fausto Gresini.

Asked by the podcast A tutto gas whether this outcome caused discomfort, owner Nadia Padovani confirmed: ‘A bit, yes, but this was Ducati’s decision and we carried on with them, and nothing changes. But of course, when the decision was made and they told us, we did feel a bit sorry’.

In the view of the Gresini leader, the results had earned them the merit to have the most up-to-date bike, but she still respects Ducati and sees what happened as a source of motivation:

– In the end, our results… we showed ourselves to be very professional and we achieved results. But these are decisions. We move forward, absolutely. In fact, look, we see it as a stimulus to show that we are better.
