Two races, two different winners in the opening round of the European Talent Cup season. Giulio Pugliese and Marco Morelli won the races this weekend in Misano.
Morelli (MLav Racing) took pole position and led for much of the 15 laps in the first race. However, it was a close race. David González (AC Racing Team) took the lead at one point, but in the final stages he couldn’t keep up with the top two after being passed by Pugliese on the 11th lap.
The Italian from Aspar Junior Team battled with Morelli for the win, a confrontation that lasted until the final meters: he won by just nine thousandths of a second. González completed the podium 7.054s behind the winner.
In the second race, Morelli once again led for much of the race. With strong competition from González, he managed to secure the win with a pass on the final lap. He then pulled away to cross the finish line 0.231s ahead of his rival.
This time, Pugliese finished in 17th place after a crash while fighting for the top four. Leonardo Zanni (Mir Racing Finetwork Racing Team) completed the podium 4.769s behind the leader.
The two Portuguese riders in the race did not have luck on their side. Alfonso Almeida (AGR Team) finished 23rd in the first race, and ended the second race in 20th place. Marco Martim (Fifty Motorsport) was the last to cross the finish line in both races, earning him 25th and 22nd place finishes.
