The current chief mechanic of Álvaro Bautista, Giulio Nava, has many years of experience in motorcycling and has worked with some big names in the paddock, both from the recent past and now, such as Marc Márquez and Casey Stoner, whom he remembered.
In conversation with MotoSprint, the Italian recalled one of the riders considered by many to be one of the most talented, Stoner, mentioning how sublime the Australian was, especially in one particular aspect: ‘Casey had a control of the rear brake, gear changes, and front brake that I would describe as impressive‘.
But his experience with top-level riders didn’t stop there, with the older of the Márquez brothers also receiving praise, especially for how quickly he absorbed new teachings:
– He was like a sponge, eager and quick to learn. I would explain something to him and, after three laps, he would do it as well or better than the others.
