Ducati had some reasons to smile in this Australian GP, on a debut day for two riders aboard a Desmosedici: Johann Zarco won for the first time in MotoGP and Fabio Di Giannantonio achieved his first podium in the class.
The General Manager of Ducati Corse, Dall’Igna, made some comments on social media about the Australian journey, regarding the first day: ‘A strange race, focused as it was on the last two laps and heavily conditioned by tire wear. An exciting finish that ends with an exciting Ducati-only podium finish’.
Afterwards, he did not miss the opportunity to praise Zarco’s first ever MotoGP victory, a triumph that came after the Frenchman, who has been in the class for seven years, managed to reach the first position on the last lap of the main race: ‘We applaud Zarco’s first MotoGP victory, a well-deserved win, the result of exemplary conduct that showed all his talent. Congratulations to Pramac, who once again demonstrated their excellent teamwork and the skill of their riders’.
And he did not forget DiGia: ‘The same applies to the Gresini team, whose Di Giannantonio managed to step onto the podium for the first time in the top category, a rider who has shown himself stronger and more determined than ever, a protagonist among the best in all recent races’.
