The Ducati Desmosedici is currently the most desired bike in the paddock, even in versions that are not the most recent, although the legitimate goal for many riders is to be with a factory team, as recalled by Gigi Dall’Igna, who also mentioned a change in the manufacturer’s rider hiring policy… and with success.
The mastermind behind the winning concept of the Desmosedici is one of the key figures in the Borgo Panigale team, and in conversation with MotoSprint, quoted by Motosan, he explained that it is not possible to have all the current riders in the structure, hinting at some of the candidates for the factory team, including Jorge Martín: ‘We have to accept the idea that keeping everyone will be almost impossible. We have few bikes and everyone aspires, rightfully, to a factory team’.
The policy, now followed by Ducati, ends up “pushing away” some riders from that position, which suggests that even some big names in the universe, already mentioned as a possibility for the future – Marc Márquez, for example – may not be a “real” option: ‘I also say one thing: we must look back at the young planet, as we did a year ago with Pecco’ [Bagnaia] and others, to give a new breath and a change of approach. It was the right thing to do’.
In that sense and according to rumors, the hiring of Fermín Aldeguer for 2025 is practically assured, as he is expected to join Pramac Racing, with a contract valid for four seasons.
