Teams are gradually finalizing their lineups for the 2024 seasons, and this time it was the GASGAS Aspar Team announcing the promotion of Joel Esteban to the world championships, while David Alonso will continue to serve the team.
The two riders are expected to be in different situations, with Alonso trying to compete for the title in the rookie class, while Esteban will have his rookie season.
Team Director Jorge ‘Aspar’ Martinez first spoke about Esteban: ‘For 2024, I think we have a very special team. Joel is entering the world championship and we are very excited about it, because if we hadn’t chosen him in 2021, I think he would have gone elsewhere. He and his family have given everything to be able to race with us, and he has taken advantage of every opportunity to reach this position. Right now, he needs to focus on the JuniorGP, where he is in second place in the points, but soon he will be in the GP setup’.
And then about Alonso, who has shone in his debut season: ‘We will also continue with David in 2024. Despite making his debut this season, he has already achieved three victories! He has the right temperament and character to face Moto3; he already looks like a specialist. With the tools at his disposal, we need to make sure we continue to support him until the end, so he can push his limits and potential’.
