Álvaro Bautista is the great winner of the Superpole race in Assen, and what a victory! The world champion showed why he wears the #1 on his bike by moving from seventh to first place in Assen to win and take the lead in the championship!
The race started with a strong start from Nicolò Bulega, earning him the lead in the race, with the battle for second place between Toprak Razgatlioglu and Jonathan Rea, with Michael Rinaldi in fourth and Bautista in fifth.

The fight for the podium spots was intense and Rea had the upper hand over Razgatlioglu, with Bautista losing ground to the faster riders, sitting in seventh. Andrea Locatelli and Garrett Gerloff were fifth and sixth respectively.
Bulega maintained a “comfortable” lead and had over 2.9s advantage over Rea, but his teammate and world champion was determined to try to recover and “re-enter” the race with four laps still to go:
