Marc Márquez has been one of the strongest riders in the MotoGP round in America, even though it is his last GP victory in 2021. Ready to return to racing at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), the goal is to gradually approach the top positions, as Frankie Carchedi ensured.
The chief engineer of the Spanish rider at Gresini Racing started by recalling the unfortunate moment of the rider in Portugal, on social media, saying, quoted in Crash: ‘Unhappy ending. Some great positives from the weekend’.
With eyes set on the next round, Carchedi revealed what the next objectives are, hoping for a better race pace: ‘The next step is to start closer to the front and have clean air… step by step. I may have the best race pace, but in a race situation it is very different’.
He also addressed some issues with the bike when behind, even in the front group: ‘Being at the back of the front group, the front overheats. We had difficulties in gaining speed from the last corner and most of the overtakes [Sunday] were at turn 1. We made things difficult. The next step is clear!’
