Franco Morbidelli returned to the points with a 14th place finish in the Indonesian MotoGP. Although the result was not particularly strong, he took positive indications from the Mandalika race, which he hopes to replicate now in the Australian GP.
The Monster Energy Yamaha rider stated: ‘Electronics issue aside, the Indonesian GP race was actually good. I was pleased with the speed I had, so I am curious to see if we can benefit from that this weekend’.
On the other hand, Morbidelli emphasized the importance of being well-prepared from day one: ‘In Indonesia, we saw once again how important Fridays are in the MotoGP weekend format in 2023. We need to ensure we are ready in Phillip Island on Friday and be prepared for anything and everything, because the weather in Phillip Island can be unpredictable. However, I like this track and we will do our best once again’.
