Due to bad weather, the MotoGP Australian Grand Prix was limited to the main race, but the championship still saw significant changes in the standings.
Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) solidified his lead with a second place finish in Phillip Island: he is now 27 points ahead of Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), who after leading until the final lap ended up only in fifth. Marco Bezzzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team/Ducati) remains in third, now 73 points off the top.
Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) is fourth and, with his first win, Johann Zarco (Prima Pramac/Ducati) moved up to fifth swapping places with Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia). Fabio Quartararo stays in tenth as the top Yamaha, while Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) in 16th is the strongest of the “golden wing” manufacturer.
Regarding Miguel Oliveira (CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team/Aprilia), the complicated weekend in Australia – he finished only 13th – resulted in him dropping to 14th place in the championship. He was surpassed by Fabio Di Giannantonio (Gresini/Ducati), after the Italian stepped onto the podium for the first time in his career.
