Francesco Bagnaia faces this weekend’s MotoGP Qatar GP. With a 14-point advantage over Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) in the championship lead, he has the first opportunity to close the title race.
The Ducati rider stated before the Losail round: ‘I am happy to be competing in Qatar again this weekend. It is another track where we have always been competitive. In the Malaysian GP, we finally managed to be fast from Friday, and we returned to pole position, something that hadn’t happened since Barcelona. It will also be very important to achieve the same here‘.
Despite being able to leave Qatar as champion, Bagnaia has slightly more modest goals: ‘The 14-point lead in the standings is not much, so the goal is to try to increase the distance to Jorge in the championship‘.
