The title won this weekend doesn’t mean relaxing, and Francesco Bagnaia’s words prove that, emphasizing the desire to keep growing and improving.
In the aftermath of the race in Valencia where he sealed his second consecutive MotoGP title, the Italian was asked how much he had become a better rider this year compared to the previous year, with him responding: ‘The awareness of being more competitive. Last year at the end, it was much more under pressure and it was just one race, with a 23-point advantage, so it was a completely different situation. This time I had a 14-point difference’.
The Italian then went on to explain specifically how this awareness can help him, with the focus being clear: to keep evolving.
– I believe I took a big step forward in terms of staying calm in some situations, in better managing situations. My team also helped me a lot and I believe I will continue to try to understand and learn from my mistakes. Last year I felt I was learning, but this year I started and in the second and third races I made the same mistakes as last year. I believe it is always a process, every year is to improve and we must continue in this way, learning and trying to improve.
