The Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix saw a fierce battle for victory between Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) – the first one since the Spaniard joined Gresini and started riding a Ducati.
Gigi Dall’Igna, Ducati’s general manager, was naturally attentive to the duel, considering it one of Bagnaia’s best performances ever, with some key points as mentioned by Motosan.es:
– Pecco had one of his best races and honestly, I’ve seen many. For me, the best moment was the outside braking at the start, and then how he resisted Márquez. In the end, he set an incredible time. He showed that he deserves his two world titles. The first laps and the start were two key phases of the race.
Regarding the moment he considers decisive for Bagnaia to surpass Márquez, Dall’Igna stated: ‘I think Pecco’s 1m37.4s, which he did at the end of the race, made the difference, because it caught Márquez off guard. And at that moment, he won the race‘.
At the moment, Márquez is one of the candidates to join the Ducati factory team in 2025, being Bagnaia’s teammate. The Italian has already renewed his contract until the end of 2026. The current vacancy is held by Enea Bastianini, who is currently third in the championship.
