Francesco Bagnaia led again in the second free practice of the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix. This was one of the last sessions to work on the bikes without looking at the stopwatch, so there are not many conclusions to be drawn from the timesheet. Miguel Oliveira finished in 18th place.
Right at the beginning of the session, the official Ducati team was stronger, with Francesco Bagnaia in first and Enea Bastianini in second. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) had his first flying lap canceled.
However, the situation didn’t last long and, with the second flying laps, Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) moved to the top with Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) in second and Bagnaia in third.
Quartararo then climbed to second, while Álex Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) reached second place. Bastianini improved to return to the top five in fourth, while Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac/Ducati) positioned himself in fifth.
With about 20 minutes to go, Morbidelli briefly led before being overtaken by Marc Márquez, who in turn saw Bagnaia take the lead. Later, Bastianini moved up to third place.
Until the end, Bagnaia held onto first place with a 0.339s lead over Marc Márquez, while Morbidelli still managed to overtake Bastianini to take third. Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) completed the top five ahead of Maverick Viñales (Aprilia).
As for Martín, the championship leader could only manage 15th place, 0.941s off the pace. Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing/Aprilia) set the 18th fastest time, in a session where he was never close to the front runners.
