In April, the acquisition of MotoGP by Liberty Media was announced, a process that will still be completed in the coming months. In any case, there are already ideas for the premier class of two wheels, which will be under the same owners as Formula 1.
And the chief executive of that championship, Stefano Domenicali, was a special guest at the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix last weekend. On that occasion, he was asked about Liberty Media’s plans for MotoGP and responded to Sky Sport:
– As you know, we continue to prepare the acquisition process, of course it still has to be approved by competition authorities. We respect the show on track and the live audience. Then, of course, we have ideas that have emerged in a growth logic. If there is a show on track, then there is also a show among fans. The types of entertainment are changing and it is good to consider all variants.
On the other hand, Ezpeleta praised the work of Dorna’s chief executive, Carmelo Ezpeleta, who has been leading MotoGP for decades: ‘Ezpeleta has done an extraordinary job‘.
