Ducati has a difficult decision to make regarding their MotoGP riders in 2025. Francesco Bagnaia has renewed until 2025, with the question of who will be his teammate still pending. Enea Bastianini currently holds the position, but Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) and Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) are strong candidates – with Márquez wanting, whether or not he is in the official team, a current bike in 2025.
For this to happen, there could be five factory Desmosedici GP bikes next year – one more than currently. The CEO of the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, Claudio Domenicali, was asked about this possibility by TNT Sports and did not rule it out:
– We are looking at the overall context. So far there are four, but it’s a complicated picture to fix, to be honest. We would love to do the best for the brand, of course. We are very connected with several of the riders we are talking to. So we will try to find the best solution and we still need some time to put all the bricks in the right place and build the wall.
Márquez is performing strongly at Gresini, but there is also Martín, who was developed by Ducati and leads the championship. Domenicali commented when asked if keeping Márquez in Ducati is a priority: ‘On the other hand, we have grown Jorge. So there are several good reasons to make different choices, to be honest. It’s not easy. On the other hand, we are… I wouldn’t say relaxed, but confident, because all the options we choose are a good option. We just need to properly honor what we have done with the riders together and try to build the best for them and for us in the future‘.
