After the rumors, the confirmation: Fermín Aldeguer will be the Ducati rider from 2025, until – at least – 2027. The young Spanish rider will then fulfill a ‘childhood dream’, and even better, he will do it with ‘the best bike on the grid’.
Currently racing with SpeedUp Racing, Aldeguer is seen by many as one of the most promising riders for the future, and Ducati wasted no time in securing the rider’s talent, which was coveted by Honda during 2023.
Here is the 18-year-old rider’s first reaction to the confirmation of his presence in the premier class starting next year: ‘I am ecstatic to have this opportunity; thanks to Ducati, I will fulfill the dream I have been pursuing since childhood. The time has come to take the big leap and compete with the best riders in the world, and moreover, I will do it with the best bike on the grid’.
The path to MotoGP was not walked alone, with Aldeguer thanking those who believed in him: ‘I want to express my gratitude to Ducati, especially to Gigi Dall’Igna, for the trust they have placed in me since the beginning of our conversations. I also extend my thanks to Luca Boscoscuro for everything we have shared and for what awaits us this year. I am equally grateful to my family, my manager, Héctor Faubel, and to all who, in one way or another, have contributed to my journey here’.
With his future defined, the focus is now on doing his job in Moto2, where he currently is: ‘Now that I know what the future holds for me, it’s time to focus only on this season, where I have a great challenge ahead in Moto2. I will give everything to leave this category with my head held high, aiming to achieve the best possible results before embarking on the new adventure in MotoGP’.
