Fermín Aldeguer gave no chances to the opposition in the first practice session of the Moto2 Americas GP. The session, which already counts towards determining the qualifiers directly for the second phase of qualifying, had the Spanish rider almost always at the top.
After the first flying laps, Manuel González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) was in the lead, but was surpassed by Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) about two minutes later. And, until the end, no one dethroned the future MotoGP rider.
Aldeguer improved his time four times, the last one on the final lap, to set a new record: 2m08.359s. The closest competitor was Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro), 0.282s behind, followed by Dennis Foggia (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex).
The top five was completed by Marcos Ramírez (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) and Jake Dixon (CFMoto Asterius Aspar/Kalex). The championship leader coming into this Americas GP, Arón Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex), could only manage tenth place, trailing the leader by 0.768s. Just ahead of him was Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro), who had set the pace in the free practice session.
