Yamaha’s reaction to the poor results in MotoGP continues to be very visible to Fabio Quartararo. On the testing day that took place this Monday in Jerez, the rider was able to test several new features on the YZR-M1. He completed 85 laps and ended up in 18th place on the timesheet.
The Monster Energy Yamaha Frenchman commented: ‘It was a long day. We tested several things, especially a new frame, new aerodynamics, a new swingarm, electronics. It’s difficult to draw a conclusion at this moment, of course now we have to analyze well. There are some positive aspects, there are some things that unfortunately are not working. But we will have more tests in Mugello after Le Mans. So these are things that we can modify and see what we can improve‘.
Asked about the new fairing he tested, Quartararo mentioned that he did not feel improvements or worsenings: ‘It’s a different feeling, neither worse nor better for me at this moment. But sometimes there are some things in acceleration that I can’t feel, but in the data you can see. But in my first feeling it was neutral‘.
«El Diablo» also revealed that he had a bike with considerable changes, being pleased with Yamaha’s work: ‘It’s the first time we only tested something new, it’s not like slightly different. The new frame we tried is very different. In the past we used to test something different, but little. And now it was a huge change for me to feel what’s on the bike. I think it was already a first step for us to see where the right path is, but I believe now we have to do the test to see clearly and have some ideas‘.
