In recent weeks, rumors have emerged about Fabio Quartararo possibly being in contact with Aprilia, with a view to a possible place in MotoGP in 2025. The manufacturer currently has Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales at the end of their contracts in the official team, as well as Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández in the Trackhouse Racing satellite team.
For now, it’s all just speculation. Quartararo is in the final season of his contract with Monster Energy Yamaha and wants guarantees of competitiveness to stay. So far, the manufacturer from Iwata continues to struggle, but shows a clear willingness to change to make the necessary leap in a process that, naturally, takes time.
In an interview with MOW Mag, rider manager Carlo Pernat discussed the possible move of the 2021 champion to Aprilia, suggesting that in that case it could be Viñales who leaves while Espargaró seems to want to stay active in 2025:
–From what I have gathered, Fabio is talking to Aprilia and it is not at all unlikely that, within three or four races, some announcement will be made. Also because the story of Maverick Viñales and Aprilia could be at the end of the road, in my opinion, while in Noale they could continue with Aleix Espargaró who, after saying he wants to retire, seems to be pressuring to extend his already long MotoGP career for another year.
