Less than a week away from the first official tests for 2024, there is still at least one spot to be filled in the MotoGP lineup – and right in the Honda factory team. Luca Marini is seen as the strongest candidate, which would leave a seat open at Mooney VR46.
Fabio Quartararo was approached by the press about this unusual situation of uncertainty regarding riders so close to the start of the next season. The Frenchman from Monster Energy Yamaha believes that there will be news soon, but admitted that it is an uncommon delay:
– I remember that when I signed for Yamaha, my first factory contract, we decided in 2019 for 2020. So, it was a long time ago. And now in four days there is no one. They don’t know who will go to VR46 or who knows to what team. It is very logical what will happen, but until it is signed you never know. I think today or tomorrow we will know, but I believe that from my part the contracts were and always will be respected.
