The two pilots who secured a spot in Q2 have been found: Enea Bastianini was the fastest and in the end Miguel Oliveira took the spot that Marc Márquez was missing, with a very well executed attack in the final seconds.
Q1 full of big names on the grid such as Marc Márquez, Álex Márquez, Brad Binder, Enea Bastianini, Miguel Oliveira, among others. Everything is ready!
Even before the first fast laps appeared, Bastianini received a warning that he was being followed by Marc Márquez, curiously two of the names to watch in Q2.
Coincidentally, it was Marc who took the lead in the session, with the first fast laps completed, with Álex Rins at 0.769s, but in second place for now. The Yamaha Spaniard was then beaten by Miguel Oliveira, who had already completed his third lap.
With eight minutes to go, the pilots began to move towards the team garages and it was expected that the times would drop. Marc Márquez was leading with a lap time of 1:30.586s, Oliveira was second 0.066s behind the former world champion.
Brad Binder was struggling as he had not yet set a time, with the South African having problems with his main bike.
With 4:40 left to run, the pilots start to head out to the track once again. It was now or never.
Two minutes later, Marc Márquez miraculously did not crash despite the front wheel of his bike literally sliding, but he managed to stay on his feet despite going off track.
And he, who was following Bastianini, was beaten, in the standings, precisely by the Italian, which pushed Oliveira out of Q2. Johann Zarco and Augusto Fernández crashed moments later.
And, in the final seconds, Oliveira went on the attack and managed to secure access to Q2 for the first time in 2024!
