After three rounds, Enea Bastianini already has two podiums in the MotoGP World Championship. After a very complicated first year at Ducati, where he was hampered by injuries, he is now showing his potential to fight for top positions and has even beaten his teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, twice.
At a press conference after finishing third in the Americas GP, #23 recalled the difficulties of 2023: ‘For me, last year was very, very strange, because my feeling with the bike was strange and I also crashed in the first race. After my injury, my adaptation to the bike was very complicated. And I was also new, because my chief mechanic was new and the team was new. You have to have a balance; if you know this, you can do something more‘.
The 2024 season started much more positively and Bastianini emphasized his confidence in consistently being in the fight for top positions:
– This year we started off on the right foot in testing and worked very well. I did several laps in Malaysia and also in Qatar to be consistent throughout the season. And in the end, we now have a solid base and I think for the future we can always fight for a good position.
After three rounds, Bastianini is in second place in the MotoGP World Championship. Ahead of him is only Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), who currently has 21 more points.
