Enea Bastianini’s first season at Ducati was very challenging, with several injuries preventing him from adapting and progressing as desired. Nevertheless, the rider proved his potential with the victory at the Malaysian MotoGP Grand Prix last Sunday, amid rumors of a possible swap with Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati). The Spaniard is fighting for the title, just like Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati).
In statements quoted by Motorsport.com, the reigning champion argued that his teammate deserves another chance in Borgo Panigale: ‘I feel that Enea deserves another opportunity after everything he went through this season. He never had the chance to fully understand this bike, and when he was starting to grasp it, he fell again in Barcelona. So, in my opinion, everyone needs another chance. And considering the results Jorge is achieving at Pramac, which is a factory team with different colors, I don’t see the reason for this change’.
On the other hand, Bagnaia considers that the continuity of Bastianini is the best for Ducati: ‘I believe that the best for Enea and also for the team is for him to continue in the same team. Right now Jorge is doing an extraordinary job, but I think Enea deserves another opportunity’.
