Whether you like it or not, China is a reference point for innovation in the world of electric mobility. We have seen many new electric models – both two and four-wheelers – coming from China, and there are no signs of slowing down. For example, a new and interesting electric motorcycle has just been revealed and, if you forgive its quirky name and the fact that it is manufactured in China, it is really quite interesting.
It is called Earth Eagle KL4500 and is a retro-style electric motorcycle with a rather interesting design. It features a single-sided swingarm – which is not necessarily a novelty, as even small scooters have this feature. However, its front part is really interesting, as it uses a telescopic fork on one side and inverted on the right side.
Interestingly, the Earth Eagle KL4500 is offered in two variations, with one of them being marketed in Europe under the name Leonart Rigger. This motorcycle features a similar retro-inspired scrambler design, but has a conventional inverted fork, as opposed to the strange single-sided fork of the model found in China.
Regarding performance, the Earth Eagle KL4500 has a motor with a maximum power of 10 kilowatts (about 13.6 hp). This gives it a top speed of 100 km/h. These performance values are similar to those of a 125 cc gasoline model, making it an affordable option for beginner riders looking for a fun urban vehicle. Its battery consists of a 72-volt, 50 amp-hour unit that offers 120 km of range on a single charge.
The Earth Eagle KL4500 has 17-inch cast aluminum wheels with 110/80 and 150/60 tires in the front and rear, respectively. The front and rear disc brake system, without ABS, allows the motorcycle to be stopped, opting for a combined braking system (CBS) similar to that of scooters. Relevant driving information can be viewed through the large digital screen and there is also a small luggage compartment to carry essential everyday items.
The price of the Earth Eagle KL4500 has not yet been announced, although in Europe – particularly in Spain – the Leonart Rigger has a starting price of €5,499. Leonart Motors also has stores in other European countries, such as Portugal, France, and Germany.
