In recent years, many new and interesting electric motorcycles have emerged, and while many of them focus on daily commutes and utility applications, a good number of them concentrate on preserving the excitement and enthusiasm of the two-wheeled lifestyle. Many of them are specific models for off-road, such as those from the French company Electric Motion.
We have talked about Electric Motion a few times in the past, and the brand has made significant progress, particularly in the off-road motor sports scene. In particular, it has competed in the FIM E-Xplorer, achieving notable podium results and even a championship title. In 2022, it was also the first electric manufacturer to compete in the Scottish Six Days Trial. This success has accompanied the brand’s expansion, which is set to open its new factory in southern France in January 2024.
In this sense, Electric Motion has introduced its latest model, the Escape X, an electric enduro motorcycle designed to explore unknown territories. According to the company, the new model is ideal for beginner and intermediate riders, providing a lightweight and off-road-oriented platform with a durable construction. It is available in two versions – X and XR – and is quite powerful. In terms of performance, the Electric Motion Escape X is equipped with a mid-mounted electric motor with a nominal power of six kilowatts, reaching a maximum of 11 kilowatts, or about 15 hp. The Escape XR goes a little further, with a maximum power of 12 kilowatts, or about 16 hp. Electric Motion also equips the enduro bike with a series of performance-focused features, such as 35mm inverted front forks that give the bike an impressive 250mm of travel. As for the battery, the Escape X has a 50.4-volt unit with a capacity of 3500 watt-hours and a lifespan of 1000 charge cycles.
Given all the performance of the Electric Motion Escape series of electric off-road motorcycles, Electric Motion made sure to include technological and safety features to make it accessible to riders from different backgrounds. It is equipped with a traction control system, as well as a progressive regenerative braking system to optimize control and range. It also has an anti-reverse function that makes it more capable of facing technical inclines. Lastly, the rider can monitor all the vital statistics of the motorcycle through a color TFT screen.
At the time of writing this article, information about the prices and availability of the new Electric Motion Escape X has not yet been disclosed. However, you can learn more about the motorcycle, as well as view the complete and detailed specifications, on the official Electric Motion website.
