Marc Márquez is definitely back in the fight for the top spots in MotoGP after tough seasons with Repsol Honda. The switch to Gresini, where he rides a Ducati, is having an effect, with the rider once again able to consistently fight at the front.
Last Sunday, he finished second in the Spanish GP, after an exciting battle for victory with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati). Michele Pirro, test rider for the Italian manufacturer, told GPOne.com:
– We all know the worth of Márquez and his titles and what he has achieved in his career confirm that. The most important thing is that Ducati has revived a champion like Marc, and the fact that he fought until the end gives more value to Bagnaia’s victory. If he had stayed at Honda, I don’t know what would have become of Marc Márquez, but today he is once again a strong, competitive rider who enjoys riding the bike.
Pirro believes that Márquez can do even better, as he doesn’t see him fully in control of the bike: ‘I think at this moment Marc still doesn’t have full control of the Ducati, in fact there are some areas to explore and get to know better‘.
