On the occasion of the F1 Grand Prix in Imola, Ducati paid tribute to the motorsport legend Ayrton Senna, presenting the special limited edition Monster that honors the Brazilian driver and his extraordinary career. Tributes to the Brazilian driver can be found all over the motorcycle, starting with the number of units produced: 341. 3, like the world titles won by Senna in Formula 1. 41, like the Grand Prix where Ayrton finished with his arms raised on the top step of the podium.
The special Monster Senna series is a celebration of the strong relationship between Ducati and the Brazilian champion. A shared passion between two legends of motorsport that the motorcycle manufacturer from Borgo Panigale still maintains with Ayrton’s family and Senna Brands. This collaboration led to the definition of the dedicated paint scheme, designed by the Ducati Style Centre.
The choice of the Monster as the model for this limited edition dedicated to the great Brazilian champion is also linked to Ayrton’s history, as he was one of the first owners of the Monster 900, the motorcycle he used for his city commutes in Monte Carlo and in which he appeared at the gala presentation of the Monaco Grand Prix in 1993. Ayrton liked the simple concept of the Monster, wanting to bring the fun of riding to the core of the motorcycling experience: a sporty engine, ideal for road use, a frame derived from Superbike, wide handlebars, and no fairing.
The special edition dedicated to the Champion has a special paint inspired by the color of the helmet the rider used in races throughout his career, with parts in yellow, green, and blue, a clear homage to the flag of Brazil.
The presentation of the bike dedicated by Ducati to Senna took place in the paddock of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari Circuit in Imola during the Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Formula 1 Grand Prix. The connection between Senna and Ducati was remembered through the words of Ducati’s CEO, Claudio Domenicali, and Senna Brands’ CEO, Bianca Senna, with a contribution also from the President and CEO of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali.
