After more than a decade with Honda, Marc Márquez will have a transition in 2024 that promises to mark this MotoGP season, and regarding the first impact he had with Ducati, he revealed some differences but did not forget his Honda RC213V, and how it is also very good in some details.
The Spaniard was asked if there was any aspect of the Desmosedici that surprised him in the first contact, and he replied like this, during the team presentation: ‘It is a different approach, a different way of approaching the attack on lap time especially. I still have to understand that aspect but I immediately understood, on the first outing and especially on the second and third, the way of attacking the corners is completely different. Then I understood many things’.
He also made a point of praising his previous bike, and mentioned that what it had good, cannot be used in the same way with his new bike: ‘I need to say it, and I also said it at the time, Honda also has very strong points in some parts of the corners, but you can’t use those strong points that I was used to, when riding like this [with Ducati], especially the exit of the corner, it was very good, very smooth, but I still have to learn how to use that extra power and grip’.
