The top brass at Ducati took advantage of the aftermath of the Japanese Grand Prix and offered some words of reassurance, at a time when championship leader Francesco Bagnaia holds just a three-point lead over Jorge Martín.
“Ducati has shown that it has a great engine and great riders, both Jorge and Pecco had a fantastic race in Motegi, showing that they are great riders and deserve to be at the top of the championship standings. There are still 222 points up for grabs, it’s a spectacular championship and we are happy to be one of the protagonists,” said team manager Davide Tardozzi, as quoted by the newspaper AS.
Is it possible to win the Moto GP World Championship in a Ducati satellite team, fighting against a rider who is the “team leader” of the main squad, in other words, is there any preference between Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martín?
“It is a satellite team, but they use the official bike, just like Bagnaia, we have seven people from Ducati on the team,” Tardozzi considered.
“It is a team that has the same bike, official riders, and everything they want. If Ducati did not want them to be on equal terms, we would have used old bikes and not hired the riders we hired. The important thing is that a Ducati wins,” pointed out the sports director of the Italian brand, Paolo Ciabatti.
