Marc Márquez continues to be one of the great specialists in Austin, and in last weekend’s GP of the Americas he was fighting for the podium in the main race until he crashed while leading. Regardless of the outcome, he was praised by Ducati’s chief executive, Claudio Domenicali.
The constructor’s leader highlighted to GPOne.com the good form of the Gresini Spaniard, as well as pointing out that, considering the differences between the bikes, the comparison must be made with the other riders on last year’s version of the Ducati:
– Marc showed that he is still in great form and made a mistake. However, you have to interpret the fact that he is riding a GP23 and his performance has to be compared with those who have the same bike. Currently, there is more difference between the GP23 and the GP24 than in the past.
Domenicali then praised Márquez’s attitude in taking risks, as well as the performance of the eight-time world champion: ‘That said, Marc had a very good race. He put himself there and maybe it would have been more comfortable to stay where he was. He took a lot of risks by making that choice and from a sports perspective, I think it has to be appreciated. In Austin, he was putting on a great performance, in fact he crashed when he was in first place. In the end, this is the world of racing and we are happy to have him with us‘.
