Enea Bastianini and Francesco Bagnaia’s contracts with Ducati end at the end of the next MotoGP season. Neither of them has continuity guaranteed, not even the two-time champion Bagnaia, as revealed by sports director Paolo Ciabatti.
Quoted in Motorsport.com, the Italian stated that nothing is decided: ‘I would say that all the riders, or almost all, have contracts expiring at the end of 2024, including ours. Beyond our desire to continue with Pecco, although we have decided not to talk about it now, it will be a difficult decision’.
Ducati will wait for the ‘five to six first races’ of 2024 to decide, although Ciabatti ensures that there is already a plan outlined: ‘We already have partially clear ideas now, but for example Enea had an exceptional season in 2022, while this year he had very bad luck. […]. I would say that after five to six races there will be clearer ideas of who will be the official team riders. Although I think, 99 percent, one of them will be Bagnaia‘.
