The MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix was nearing its end when Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) was trying to defend fifth place. Right behind him was Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati), who attempted to overtake at turn 5 in Portimão. The maneuver resulted in a touch and consequent fall for both, taking them out of the points.
Gigi Dall’Igna, general manager of Ducati Corse, lamented the incident in his usual analysis published on Linkedin. However, he did not want to elaborate further:
– The incident involving Pecco and Marc was very regrettable, denying them both the chance to score important points for the championship standings in a complex race where they were unable to fight for the win. Honestly, any other comments would be very superfluous.
