Next weekend the MotoGP Americas GP will take place. At the Circuit of the Americas, there is one manufacturer clearly more successful than all others – Honda.
Between 2013 and 2018, they were the only ones to win races at the Texas circuit – always thanks to Marc Márquez. The first to beat the Spaniard in Austin was Álex Rins (Suzuki) in 2019. In 2022, Enea Bastianini took a Ducati to the top of the podium for the first time.
Last year, the Borgo Panigale manufacturer had, in theory, everything to be the first besides Honda to win more than once at the Americas GP. However, events did not turn out positively and once again Honda emerged victorious – through Rins (LCR Honda), despite the many weaknesses of the bike.
Now, Ducati once again has the theoretically most competitive bike and started the season strong, a step ahead of the competition. The reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and championship leader Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) are two of the strong candidates for victory.
And also Márquez, who now at Gresini has a Ducati Desmosedici GP23 and even though it’s last year’s version, has already shown that he can fight for the top positions. And, knowing how well the Spaniard performs in Austin, he could very well return to victory in Texas.
