Kay de Wolf dominated the MXGP of Sardinia in the MX2 Motocross World Championship – with two wins in Sunday’s races at Riola Sardo, on the Italian island.

In the first race, Sacha Coenen (Red Bull KTM) took the holeshot and led for the first 12 laps, constantly chased by de Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna). The Dutchman completed the overtake and, in an attempt to respond, the Belgian crashed and lost several positions.

Until the end, de Wolf came under pressure from Camden Mc Lellan (Monster Energy Triumph), but held on to win with a 1.904s advantage. Simon Längenfelder (Red Bull KTM) finished third ahead of his teammate Andrea Adamo. Coenen salvaged fifth place.

Adamo took the holeshot in the second race, leading early on ahead of Cas Valk (Van Venrooy KTM). De Wolf was third but quickly began to recover and took the lead. Adamo stayed close and took advantage of a crash from the Dutchman about ten minutes later.

The incident didn’t significantly delay de Wolf, who remained in the fight… and on the final lap completed the overtake on Adamo to take victory by 3.601s. McLellan finished third, followed by Coenen, who had to recover from a poor start. Liam Everts (Nestaan Husqvarna) came in fifth.

In the final standings of the MXGP of Sardinia, de Wolf was the winner with the maximum of 50 points, followed by McLellan with 42 points and Adamo completing the podium with 40 points.
