The Official Presentation of the 26th Portugal de Lés-a-Lés is fast approaching, on March 17, Sunday, at 3 pm, at the Malibu Foz Hotel in Figueira da Foz. This moment marks the official start of another crossing of the country, this year from south to north and with many points of interest. As the starting and ending cities of the great mototouristic marathon organized by the Portuguese Motorcycling Federation were already known, more details have been revealed. So, after the announcement of the arrival in Penafiel and the start in Portimão, it was known that the second stage would end in Covilhã, breathing the air of the Serra da Estrela. Which will be crossed in an innovative way in the history of Lés-a-Lés…
However, before reaching the center of the country, it was necessary to know which city in Alentejo would welcome the caravan of 2000 motorcycles on June 7, after the connection from the municipality of Portimão. Well, the FMP’s Mototourism Commission decided to anticipate this information to the Official Presentation where all the details of the route will be revealed, including the location of the famous Oases. For now, it can be revealed that the final stage podium and the start of the second stage will be set up in the largest city in Alentejo. Évora, whose historic center was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986, will once again receive the Lés-a-Lés caravan, after a much more discreet presence in 2020. That year, the motorcyclists, coming from Lagos, in smaller numbers than usual, did not receive the traditional crowd bath, due to the pandemic that limited all sectors of society. Now, the promise of a huge party will be fulfilled.
This way, those who want to arrange accommodations in the only Portuguese city that is part of the Network of Europe’s Oldest Cities can do so on their own or by using the specialized services of Agência Abreu, FMP’s travel partner. And, of course, for the rest of the overnight stays of the adventure, whose registrations open right after the Official Presentation on March 17, with the fastest ones taking the front seats. But before the registrations, it is highly advisable to carefully read the General Regulations published on the Lés-a-Lés website, where several new features are included, including registration fees.
