It is with enthusiasm that Fabio Di Giannantonio prepares to return to action in MotoGP, now with the new colors of Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. The rider spoke about what is ‘lost’ during the summer break, and about the new team that has a winning mentality.
‘I can’t wait to get back to restart, to the Desmosedici and to work with the team. It was a short but long winter at the same time. When you’re not riding your bike, it’s always too long. What you lose during the winter – not riding – are also the reflexes on the bike, when you’re riding at 300km/h and have to brake, and start to have these sensations and everything else… the speed. In the end, that’s all, and it’s important to come here and not feel that in the first outings with the bike,’ the rider told journalists in Sepang.
Absent from a MotoGP bike during the winter, the alternative is other models that… are not exactly the same, in various aspects: ‘Everything changes compared to when you’re on a ‘normal’ bike,’ the bike moves everywhere, the power is not as much compared to the MotoGP bike. The Panigale moves, it doesn’t have the chassis [of a MotoGP bike]. There are many differences but to regain some of the sensations is good, it’s good training.’
Then followed words of praise for the new team he will defend in 2024, with very positive words about the atmosphere of the structure:
– The atmosphere in the new team, honestly, is very good. There are many professionals and they seem like a family but in a professional sense. They have a lot of fun during work moments, outside of work moments, and it’s good to have that desire to win. What I see is that they work to win, they are passionate not only about the bike, but about winning. Everyone’s goal is to win, win, win and I believe that will affect my mindset and help me win.
