Contrary to what has been happening in the last races, it wasn’t a Ducati rider who won on Sunday, as Maverick Viñales and Pedro Acosta were the main riders on track, securing first and second places. This is something that Davide Tardozzi doesn’t want to see much more, as it could interfere with the ambitions of the Italian manufacturer in the championship.
In statements to Sky, quoted in Motosan, the Team Manager of the Ducati factory team was pleased with the good performance of his bike, but saw his riders finish behind the top two: ‘Thanks to Viñales and Acosta, they made the difference during the weekend. I am happy to see that the Ducati group is behind, from third to sixth place, as a bike we confirmed the performance. We have to work to improve even more and give more performance to our riders’.
He then focused on Aprilia Racing and the rookie of the category, even saying that he is somewhat afraid of what he can do: ‘Viñales is a talent, he has had ups and downs in his career, managed to win with three different brands. Acosta will be one of the riders who will compete in the world championship in the future and I fear for us that he can do it again this year’.
For the Italian, both riders have good bikes, but Ducati is in good shape, with the championship leader and others who are emerging after a complicated 2023, not to mention… Pecco Bagnaia:
– They are supported by good bikes and are making a difference. Ducati continues to have very competitive riders, we have the World Champion, we have [Jorge] Martín at the top of the championship, we have [Enea] Bastianini in second in the standings, we will definitely not be discouraged in a race that went very well because we did not win. There are 36 races left and the championship is still long.
