David Alonso took the lead in the Moto3 tests. The first day in Jerez had three separate sessions, with the best time coming in the last one.
The promising Colombian completed the fastest lap in 1m44.356s to be the fastest of the day. He surpassed José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) by just two thousandths – the Spaniard set the pace in the second session. Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3), who did not ride in the last session of the day, was third, 0.053s behind the leader.
The top four were within less than a tenth of a second, as Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna IntactGP), in fourth, was 0.089s behind Alonso. The top five was completed by Adrián Fernández (Leopard Racing/Honda) 0.132s off the top. The best rookie was David Almansa (Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda), in eighth place.
