David Alonso was the leader of the free practice for the Americas GP in Moto3. The times were still far from the Circuit of the Americas records, as this was the first contact with the track over the weekend.
David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM) led after the first flying laps, but he was soon surpassed. The Spanish rider returned to the top with his second attempt, but was overtaken again – this time by Iván Ortolá (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM). Later, Alonso (CFMoto Aspar) took the lead for the first time.
The Colombian stayed in front for about six minutes and returned there at the end of the first 20 minutes – after the first place had been in the hands of Matteo Bertelle (Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda) and Ortolá. Within the last five minutes, Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3) took the lead.
However, with his final lap, Alonso set the best time of all: 2m16.537s. Holgado finished second 0.182s behind, while José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) achieved the third fastest time. Muñoz finished fourth and Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) completed a top five where all the riders set their personal best laps in the final attempts.
