Daniel Sanders is very close to securing victory in the 2025 Dakar Rally and it was with that mindset and perspective in mind that today he had another day thinking about not making big mistakes and taking a more defensive stance, while at the same time just wanting to keep that safe stance tomorrow.

There are 61 kilometers separating the KTM rider from victory in the Dakar, so today the Australian tried to control events, on a day that was marked by the shortening of the stage: ‘It was a really cloudy morning, so we had to wait a while to start, and it’s a shame that the weather really impacted the stage so much’.

The #4 believes that the organization’s decision to make the stage smaller was the right one: ‘I was looking forward to it, but it was the best decision for everyone’.

He then confessed that the way he rode today and will ride tomorrow is more with the final title in mind, rather than trying to win and get a result closer to the stage win:

– I had a good day cruising along and making sure I didn’t take any big risks or make any mistakes. It’s going to be fun tomorrow with everyone riding together and the plan is to just sit back and watch everything unfold while I play it safe!
