The Jerez Ángel Nieto Circuit hosted the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix last weekend. Ducati had the supremacy, with three riders on the podium – the winner was Francesco Bagnaia from the factory team.
However, the Italian bikes were not the fastest in terms of pure top speed in the main race. That statistic was dominated by KTM, with Dani Pedrosa and Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM) recording the highest top speeds: 300km/h. Pedrosa had the best average speed, 298.1km/h compared to his teammate Brad Binder’s 297.8km/h.
The second highest top speed was, somewhat surprisingly given their weak absolute performance, Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) – 299.1km/h. Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) and Binder followed, closing the top five ahead of the official Ducatis.
Enea Bastianini had the sixth top speed, while the race winner, Bagnaia, was seventh in this statistic – reaching 296.7km/h along with three other riders. One of them was Miguel Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing/Aprilia), in tenth place on the table with an average speed of 295.3km/h – only six riders did better than the Portuguese in that aspect.
