Rumors were circulating and have now been confirmed: Dani Pedrosa will indeed return to MotoGP as a wildcard between April 26 and 28 at the Spanish GP, just like last year.
The Red Bull KTM test rider has already tested in 2024 at the Jerez Ángel Nieto Circuit, which will host the fourth round of the season. With a test on the following Monday, it seemed certain that the wildcard would become a reality.
The confirmation came yesterday, on the sidelines of the Americas GP. In 2023, Pedrosa finished sixth in the Sprint race and seventh in the main race in Jerez. He then returned at the San Marino GP in Misano where he obtained two fourth places.
In response to this wildcard, the Spanish rider – who will compete in front of his home fans – naturally expressed his satisfaction with this participation, stating:
– I had a lot of fun in Jerez last year and the reception from the fans was incredible. We all know that Jerez is a special place. It will also be important for us to use some references for our tests and put them back into a competitive environment. This is the main reason for competing in 2024.
