In last year’s San Marino MotoGP Grand Prix, Dani Pedrosa surprised everyone. The KTM test rider made a wildcard appearance and still fought for the podium in both races, finishing fourth in both the Sprint and the main race. Nothing that makes him consider returning to MotoGP full-time, considering that it is an unrepeatable feat.
In an interview with the website SPEEDWEEK.com, the Spanish rider was asked if he had any secrets for the results in that round, to which he replied: ‘I didn’t have one. I was even a little surprised myself at how everything went. But I have to say that KTM took a good step and the bike was very good. Many factors came together. You also need a perfect qualifying, a perfect start, and a good first lap to achieve such a good result‘.
Pedrosa, who also praised the team’s work, rejected a full-time return, also emphasizing that what was seen in Misano last September was a fluke: ‘No, not at all. I am happy with my position, that is enough for me. Besides, Misano cannot be repeated. […]. It was an exception, as I said, because everything came together and went perfectly‘.
